I read this article today and thought it was a beautiful reminder about why it is important to live life to the fullest. Even more motivation to complete my list!

“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:21 (NIV)
I read a book one time about how to figure out what your life’s legacy should be. It told you to imagine yourself going to your own funeral, sitting in the back of the church and listening to what everyone there had to say about you. The book encouraged you to think of what you’d like people to say about you after you die; that becomes your legacy and you should spend the rest of your life living so that becomes true. Taking that approach is better than nothing, but honestly, it doesn’t matter what other people think of you. In the final analysis, when you die, the only thing that’s going to matter is what God says about you. That is my ultimate goal for you as you prepare for your Decade of Destiny. The point of living your life to the fullest in every aspect is not to increase your reputation; it’s to make your life count for God, to invest it in what God says is going to make a difference.I believe that God put you here on earth for a purpose. God has given you a special SHAPE – Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences – that he wants you to use for his glory. And when we stand before him at the end of time, all that matters is what he’s going to say about how you used your SHAPE. Just like the servant in Matthew 25:23, I hope God says to you, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” That’s what you want said about you, and you want it said by God, not by other people. |
The other night I was thinking about how close I am to turning 30 and how much I still want to accomplish in my life. Now I know the fear of turning the big 3-0 is not unique, and that I have a future beyond that, but I wanted to set some goals for myself. So I spent some time and created 100 things I want to do/see before I die and 30 things I think I can accomplish before I hit my 30th birthday. Step one will be to keep up with this site.
